After being together for ten years, Sylvie and Dan have all the trimmings of a happy life and marriage; they have a comfortable home, fulfilling jobs, beautiful twin girls, and communicate so seamlessly, they finish each other's sentences. However, a trip to the doctor projects they will live another 68 years together and panic sets in. They never expected "until death do us part" to mean seven decades. In the name of marriage survival, they quickly concoct a plan to keep their relationship fresh and exciting: they will create little surprises for each other so that their (extended) years together will never become boring. But in their pursuit to execute Project Surprise Me, mishaps arise and secrets are uncovered that start to threaten the very foundation of their unshakable bond. When a scandal from the past is revealed that question some important untold truths, they begin to wonder if they ever really knew each other after all.

Very easy to read but quite predictable. I found the main character quite frustrating but I have to admit I did find myself chuckling a few times.

I have never read Sophie Kinsella’s books but I did enjoy this one. Although the heroin and her husband decide to « Surprise «  each other to ensure a long and happy marriage, the author offers the reader a surprise of her own through an interesting plot twist. The book offers very funny passages but it delves into a serious and far-reaching family secret. A quick read.

Interested in reading a book where you can see the changes in a character? Try this novel where the main female character changes dramatically from a silly youngish married 32 year old with 2 five year old twins who still holds her dad on a pedestal to a still married 32 year old who now has taken charge of her life, accomplishes personal and professional goals, and lives with her family's past in a realistic way. Try to get through the first 150 pages which are quite silly with funny bits as the husband and wife wonder how to bring surprises into their marriage in order to keep them in love which they expect to be for the next 68 years - a shock to them about their "to death do us part" marriage vows. The book gradually becomes more serious, more realistic in its plot as a family secret unfolds and all must deal with its truth. The title of this book is very apt as surprises abound - some good, funny, others sad and tragic. Not to worry - all ends well. I am happy I didn't return this book after reading the first 150 pages. The next 250 pages flew by.

This is my first book by this author - who I thought wrote funny novels. Strange premise - why would two people who are supposed to be in love be so afraid to find out that they should be together for 68 more years? Parts were funny but then it too a quick change to very dark and depressing story. Did not really figure out why the story took this change. Don't know it I will take a chance on another of her books - there are way too many out there to read.

I thought the concept of the book sounded a tad silly. It was hard to get into at first, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It ended up being quite enjoyable, and hard to put down.

Definitely not my favourite by Ms. Kinsella. Not a great plot and I felt no connection to the characters.

Couldn’t get into it. Horrible premise. It’s too bad because I love her Shopaholic series

I thought this was a fun read. Sylvie and Dan find out that they are most likely going to have another 60+ years together as a married couple and they find it a little overwhelming. Sylvie decides they will make it if they don't become too predictable and start surprising each other on a regular basis. The surprises all go wrong of course!

was hoping for a fun read after a serial killer thriller, this was not it. somewhat haphazard and not one of kinsella's better efforts. it was just...okay.
