This is my favourite Dear Canada book and I am writing fanfiction for it! Yes, it is sad, but it is also touching and it makes you wonder if things like this are happening in your world and if maybe in 100 years, they will write a book like this about it. It's hard to think that people are capable of such cruelty. Thanks for carrying it Surrey Public Libraries!

Orphan at my door is a historical story about a girl from 100 years ago. The story is about a girl named Victoria who noticed how home girls were getting treated differently. The main charcter in this story is Victoria who learns how other people were treated in the town. Victoria had two brothers, Tom who is an immature and goofy kid and David was a smart but discriminating boy. Victoria's home girl was Marianna and that was the reason Victoria noticed how home girls were treated. Then at the end of the story there was a baby named Emily Rose. What I liked about the story was the ending when Victoria's mother had a daughter named Emily Rose.
