Really enjoyed this book and the style of writing. Glad the weather was poor and I could sit and read it through guilt free. Always of interest for me when I learn a little of "history" thru fiction and a feel for the times. 4 stars.

What would happen if William Shakespeare had illegitimite child? What would it have been like in his time? The writing of Richard Wright is lovely and slowly tells of tales of Mam and Aerlene through a great story-telling presentation and how William Shakespeare is involved (or not). I felt transported into time to England in the country, as well as, the bustling London and its different districts. Enjoyable.

An interesting outlook of life during Shakespeare's time. Though some places the pace was a bit slow, it is well written with excellent details.

Lots of historical details and many levels of storytelling made this a pretty terrific read!

I've been meaning to read Richard B. Wright's Clara Callan and October for quite a while now, but the indelicate title and interesting cover design made me pick this up first.

If you like historical fiction, you'll love this book.
