The plot is, to say the least, ambitious. At the tender age of twelve Regin finds herself in the home of berserker Aiden the Feirce, who tells her that she will be his wife when she grows up. Aiden knows that she is his true mate. His goal is to win immortality from the gods by battling in their name, and thus to spend an eternity with a valkyrie wife. Tragically, he is killed shortly after making love to Regin for the first time. Over the centuries he is reincarnated several times, always discovering Regin and remembering his past lives just before being violently killed. The latest incarnation of Aiden is called Declan Chase. Chase hates immortals of all sorts, and is the head of a mass prison/research/torture center for immortals. He captures Regin and many of her friends, and she is forced to choose whether to help him along to his inevitable demise, or avoid him and allow him to live out a full life.
Declan Chase absolutely hates the Lore. Vertas, Pravus, it doesn't matter. Of course, he an his family was eaten alive Neoptera, so maybe he has reason to hate some of the Lore.
So imagine his surprise and disgust when four different Loreans, from different sides, all tell him that he is the reincarnation of a great Lore general, and is a member of the Lore himself.
One of those to tell him of his place in the scheme of things, is the Lore general's and as a result, his destined female Regin. He doesn't really believe her until after his boss, Webb, orders Regin's torture, knowing that she is Chase's destined female.
So after the fights, torture, vivisection, poisening, and smothering our boy needs some serious help in the romance department. Luckyly(or un) he has in his corner one incredibly evil ancient vampire and one 17-year-old vamptom QB. May Woden have mercy, because his daughter certainly won't.
