"Riveting, heart-wrenching, and full of Old Hollywood glamour, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is one of the most captivating reads of 2017." -- BuzzFeed

"The epic adventures Evelyn creates over the course of a lifetime will leave every reader mesmerized. This wildly addictive journey of a reclusive Hollywood starlet and her tumultuous Tinseltown journey comes with unexpected twists and the most satisfying of drama." -- PopSugar

In this entrancing novel "that speaks to the Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor in us all" ( Kirkus Reviews ), a legendary film actress reflects on her relentless rise to the top and the risks she took, the loves she lost, and the long-held secrets the public could never imagine.

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.

Summoned to Evelyn's luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the '80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn's story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique's own in tragic and irreversible ways.

"Heartbreaking, yet beautiful" (Jamie Blynn, Us Weekly ), The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is "Tinseltown drama at its finest" ( Redbook ): a mesmerizing journey through the splendor of old Hollywood into the harsh realities of the present day as two women struggle with what it means--and what it costs--to face the truth.

This novel was on many 2017 summer reading lists : the thumbnail plot description piqued my curiosity. I don't usually read "glam" books, but the story line was intriguing: an aging, beautiful and reclusive Hollywood movie icon is finally ready to dish her scandalous, privileged ... Read More »

All of the buzz around The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was definitely well deserved! The novel was captivating and very intriguing. I don't usually read adult fiction but I found this novel very compelling and I can't wait to read Jenkins' next novel.

Beautifully written, believable dialogue, jumping time frames well handled, likeable/lovable characters. One of my favorite read-again novels.

I laughed and I cried. Actually I cried a lot. I adored Evelyn and her story, she was a character. Dynamic, imperfect, raw, and real. While, yes I had to adjust to the frame work of the biography and Monique's role in the story, I enjoyed every minute I had this book in my hands.

A fun read! Evelyn Hugo is a great character, and who knew it would make sense to have seven husbands! An excellent book showcasing the complexities of human nature and relationships. A bit wacky, perhaps, but I enjoyed it. Two thumbs up!!
This would be a fun miniseries... hello, Netflix.....are you listening?

I enjoyed this book very much. I devoured it in two days. I found the central love story compelling, but it got a bit repetitive. The main characters do despicable thing, but remain likeable, always a sign of a good book.

I am a big fan of TJR and I should have never put off reading this book. It definitely veers away from what I'm used to getting from this author, but the quality of writing is no less than what I would expect. I found the story enthralling even though it was far and away different than what I had originally imagined. Actually, I'm not sure what I imagined? Seeds were planted early on in the story and I had thought I knew what to expect by the end and although I was correct on one account, I was blown away by another. Completely and unexpectedly, Blown Away! It truly is amazing how much I enjoyed reading this story when most of the characters are extremely self-serving. Only a writer I trust could pull this off. I will never again doubt the direction this author chooses to go and my enjoyment of it's content.

I describe The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo as a book that made me pick up the pieces of my broken heart. This book is gorgeously written, and Evelyn is such a memorable protagonist who's story is sad, but hopeful. I found myself so emotionally invested and the amount of times I yelled and cried reading this book is a testament to my enjoyment level. Easily one of my favourite books I read in 2018.

Wild, well written, entertaining coming of age story told from the retired celebrities perspective. Enough twists and sub-plots to keep you engaged. At times, this was too out there for me, but I want to read more from the author - VERY WELL WRITTEN.

I loved this book. Taylor Jenkins Reid is an awesome author. I was not sure how this book would go, but from the beginning, I could not put it down. I felt all the emotions from laughter to tears, from reading about someone's life during their early Hollywood career to their personal life and the impact it had on life decisions.

I would highly recommend this book with a glass of wine. When I finished it, I wanted to immediately call the author and say - BRAVO! This book is the total package of what a great book is all about.
