"From New York Times bestselling author John Lescroart, a riveting standalone novel about the unexpected, shattering, and lethal consequences of a one-night stand on a seemingly happily married couple. Kate loves her life. At forty-four, she's happily married to her kind husband, Ron, blessed with two wonderful children, and has a beautiful home in San Francisco. Everything changes, however, when she and Ron attend a dinner party and meet another couple, Peter and Jill. Kate and Peter only exchange a few pleasant words but that night, in bed with her husband, Kate is suddenly overcome with a burning desire for Peter. What begins as an innocent crush soon develops into a dangerous obsession and Kate's fixation on Peter results in one intense, passionate encounter between the two. Confident that her life can now go back to normal, Kate never considers that Peter may not be so willing to move on. Not long after their affair, a masked man barges into the cafe Kate is sitting in with her best friend, firing an assault weapon indiscriminately into the crowd. This tragedy is the first in a series of horrifying events that will show Kate just how grave the consequences of one mistake can be. An explosive story of infidelity, danger, and moral ambiguity, John Lescroart's latest thriller will excite and satisfy both his current and new fans"--

This is the first book I have read by Lescroart. I picked it up becase I saw the Golden Gate Bridge on the cover. I love reading books that take place in San Francisco where I live. I must say I am really enjoying it so far. I am only half way through, but I can't wait to see what happens next.

This book was a really good one, and quite a bit different than a standard Lescroart novel, as the usual characters were not used and it was not really a legal thriller. It was more about relationships.

Enjoyable read, as are all the books I've read by this author, in spite of being sprinkled with comments blaming women for men's infidelity (and the comments are attributed to a woman, which made them more irritating). But overall, it's an interesting plot with a bit of an up in the air ending -- which makes me think there's more to come.

Readable but easy to put down. I found I skipped over parts because it lost my interest. The relationships between people were not always believable and I predicted the ending.

I couldn't seem to get into this one, I found that there was no flow and I wasn't invested in the characters. The dialog seemed stiff and wooden, perhaps that's why I didn't care what happened to them. A lot of holes in the story and not much description to get me involved. I didn't finish it.

Entertaining, albeit totally predictable, storyline with an interesting mishmash of characters.

The best thing about Fatal? Trekking vicariously through various slices of San Fran life.

I have always likes Lescroart books and his character Dismas Hardy. This is new ground for him with a new, stand-alone cast of characters. He does a great job of telling a really interesting story of unintended consequences and moral dilemma's. His portrayal of modern teenagers needs a small amount upgrading, but the rest of the characters are interesting and the dialogue is very good. Lots of great twists and turns. Enjoy!

It started out good, but was boring toward the end. Would not recomnend. He has written better books.

haven't read one of his books in a long time and was happy to see it on the shelves. It started out slow and smutty but it picked up in the second section. Turned out to be a very good read and surpise ending. Enjoy
