An interesting and very unique book about Canada in honour of its sesquicentennial. Each chapter focuses on an object that the author has selected as being important to the story of the country. The writing and the accompanying illustrations are beautiful. I loved that she stayed away from the obvious (beavers, maple leaves, etc.) and dug a little deeper.

The author chooses 50 random objects and writes a page or 2 about how each one of the objects is associated with some Canadian historical event or interesting Canadian fact. She covers a broad range of topics from coast to coast. I found myself wanting to "Google" everything she talked about. It can easily be picked up and read in quick little sections. A great read for anyone who enjoys Canadiana. I really enjoyed this.
