This episode focuses on the Arrows, an organization of assassins with psychic abilities. The Arrows have been shaken by the recent fall of the Silence Protocol, which mandated training Psy children to be emotionless to help them control their powers; it worked, but also created sociopaths. Aden Kai, thought to be one of the weaker Arrows, has taken command and sworn to protect his Arrows and help them recover. Needing support, he reaches out to one of his commanders, Zaira Neve, arguably the Arrow who needs the discipline of Silence the most. Together, Aden and Zaira have to overcome assassination attempts and the growing pains of change even as they confront a threat greater than their pasts and start to realize the romantic possibilities of their longtime friendship.

Too much repetition of the heroine's tortured past and feelings. However, this is one of my 2 current favorite authors and my favorite series of those she creates. The last 2 in the series feel weaker than all previous, which I have reread 3 times. I recommend the series heartily.

Book #14 of Psy-changeling series, preceded by Shield of Winter and followed by...#15. Fun, exciting story of Aden, the leader of all Arrows and Zaira, a "broken" combat arrow. Long story, that start off really good. I like their struggle and escape. I also like the time Aden and Zaira spend while healing. I didn't like the repetitiveness of Zaira's "Monster" story. But overall great book.
