This book is not so much about the missing little girl as it is about the people left in the doomed town. We are given the background and history of these characters and how they are connected to each other. By the time you have finished, the lush, descriptive writing will make you feel like you know them and have lived in Yuneetah with them.

This is a great novel, even if it is depressing at times. It is about a river that is flooding the town and people need to move. The main character, struggles with moving and change. She learns about herself and her strengths . Very inspiring book.

Really enjoyed this novel. I wish the author had given a little more character development to Amos; he was pivotal but I never really identified with him or knew quite what motivated him.
