Welcome to the world of grim reaper extraordinaire, Charley Davidson. Try as she might, there's no avoiding her destiny.

Sometimes being the grim reaper really is, well, grim . And since Charley's last case went so awry, she has taken a couple of months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above . . . or at least get dressed. It becomes clear something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she's insane. But the more they refute the woman's story, the more Charley believes it.

In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, is out of prison and out of Charley's life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved.

Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans in this hilarious fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling series from Darynda Jones. .

Ok so this is weird but I think I have finally figured it out. Each time I get one of Jones' books, I get all excited to read it. But once started, I feel like I really don't want to. The reason? I think it's because I keep expecting each one to be a "flop". As tho with each new book, the writer will have changed into someone else and it won't be another " Charley" style book. If that makes any sense? Regardless, it was a great book. It didn't disappoint. I'm so in lust with Reyes. And I think now that has seeped over to the biker boys :)) I'm hoping more will come of Amber and Quentin as well. But since I've not been able to read any of these in order.... I really want Cookie to find her a "man". Maybe not Uncle Ubie and def NOT Reyes, but some1 good for her! Wonderful series and I really dread when it comes to an end * cries openly*. Thank you Ms. Jones for perking up my world and letting me leave the chronic depression at the front of your wonderful novels.

I like the Charley Davidson series and I liked this one...but it was not what I would call the best of the 4 I have read so far.
I still look forward to number 5 and it will be interesting to see if the clues I picked up in this book will be played out in 5 ,and if so will be the last in the series.

This one was very 6th sense, and the fun part was going back to the beginning and to reread to look for the clues. Of course, because of that it sucked and I feel some of the plot elements are getting overly complicated... from the relationship with her father, then the one with Reyes. Messed up, but fun to read.

Obviously much better than most of the UF out there, but I preferred the first three novels in the series. The case du jour was annoyingly throwaway and the "big surprise" about the case was just unnecessary. What's the point of having a first-person narrative with a stunt like that. Donovan was sadly lacking and Reyes was beginning to chafe a bit. I'm hoping for better things in the next instalment.

Ms. Jones has got her mojo back. After an indifferent outing last time, this one has it all......mystery, action, laugh out loud dialogue & a couple of hot scenes to boot. We also learn some interesting things about Charley, her abilities & where she came from. Bring on the next one.
