This is a very good book [also to be found in the duuuuuuhh category] which puts forth the obvious source of the problem: bankers and their corporations strive, on behalf of the super-rich, to keep wages of labor [and by labor I mean any and every employee who works for another] down to the barest minimum, dismantle any possible social net programs, and hamper future social mobility. By offshoring jobs, importing foreign visa scab workers, rigging all the markets, and using hedge funds to speculate on everything, and private equity companies to further destroy labor with their leveraged buyout pump-and-dumps, they do just that.
