Absolutely love this series, I'm going through it again, reading at the same time my son is reading. It's dark, but not darker than LOTR and on the same level as a fantastical world with well realized places and people. Pellinor is fantastic, I can't recommend it highly enough for fantasy readers out there, I've seen a prequel which I've also read and I'm hoping to see more. Do yourself a favor and get this series in your brain.

Such a good book, read the naming too and the whole series so far is excellent.

I enjoyed this series of books. The heroine, Maerad, is gifted but not perfect. The author describes various cities and locations very vividly. I was amused by the enthusiasm Maerad shows for being clean, something that is often missing in most fantasies :).

There is a lot of darkness in these books and you get absorbed in seeing how the characters battle their internal demons as well as external foes.
