Is there really such a thing as a benevolent destiny that will eventually reunite true soul mates separated by time and distance? It begins at Christmastime in a New York department store, where two people meet by chance -- while shopping for their "significant others" -- and are immediately attracted to each other. After spending a romantic evening together, they reluctantly part, secretly hoping that fate will reunite them some day.

Add a Commentrom com, romantic/plot was stupid and predictable (i.e. - it's always christmas) and not subtle, but some funny lines and acting by supporting cast, especially eugene levy and molly shannon. feels like an 80s or 90s movie couldn't believe was from 2001! also kind of creepy they were hitting on each other when in relationships; not much of a plot for a 1.5 hour movie SPOILER: meet cute, look for each other, find each other
This rom-com is wintry and, thanks to a good cast, above average. I enjoy it enough to have seen it more than once. Serendipity is rated PG-13 for a scene of sexuality and for brief language.
A great love story movie.
I love this movie, and watch it every Christmas.
Way too farfetched. Sure it IS called Serendipity, but the narrative lays it on so thick, this is way too unbelievable that it falls flat.
I couldn't find any charm in this movie. Nothing "Serendipity" about it. Stupid and boring.
