I love this 'philosophy documentary' for this quotation, and I paraphrase: "What makes me think I can use an animal as food, simply because I like the taste of it's flesh?"
There's lots more good stuff, like Cornel West who raps philosophy a-mile-a-minute; pure poetry. And Slavoj Zizek, who is always amusing. Lots more... It's been a while since I watched this... It's a flick that rewards you, given a bit of brain exercise and perhaps some open-mindedness. If only to pique your interest for further investigation...
I love this film! Particularly, I love the interview with Cornel West about "Truth with a capital 'T.'" Featuring also Peter Singer, Slavoj Zizek and Judith Butler, all armchair philosophers should see this film and share it with their friends!
One of my favorite movies of all time. If only there were more like this. For the philosophy nut. Peter Singer and Cornel West are the stand outs.
I loved listening to Cornel West speaking in blues and jazz riffs. All eight philosophers got ten minutes, in motion of one variety or another, to give us a flavour of their thinking. hurray for Astra Taylor and for TVO docs. I suggest watching this with the hearing impaired subtitles on - that way your get both aural and visual stimulation as the ideas make their way to your brain. Zizek, in front of the piles of garbage/recycling, was amazing.
Pompous windbags posing as the face of enlightenment. I couldn't bear to watch as far as martha nussbaum, and she is actually a good thinker, though.
