Mixed comments below, that some found it boring is perplexing. I first read the book years ago, then saw the movie when it first came out. This is my second time and it still fascinated me. A classroom full of teenagers in an immigrant community in Paris -- French, Chinese, Moroccan, Caribbean, Malian. How the conflicts play out, they rise and rise some more, and then a crisis. One girl in particular has a keen and incisive mind, and she is aware of how social class is expressed in the French language. It's a good look at the French system. All the teachers seem to know all the students from past classes and from the present. Sno-Isle has only one copy.

Incredibly boring made even more so due to the high marks and expectations. I have been to high school and don't need to relive a so called week in the life of a teacher.
To sir with love has nothing to worry about and this is just all hype and no hip.

No idea why this movie got such high marks. More of a documentary on a teacher in an inner Parisian school. Rather pointless.

Very intense and realistic film about a very engaged young teacher in a French school. Enjoyed it! If you speak a little French it might be even better since a lot of the French spoken in the film is easy to understand.

I didn't care for this film much. The idea is great, but I've seen this topic covered in much deeper ways (see "Freedom Writers" and "To Sir, With Love.")

Excellent classroom drama based on the autobiography of François Bégaudeau, who plays himself in the lead role as a school teacher in Paris. The film examines the relationship between the teacher and students who come from different cultural backrounds, posing many challenges for Francois. His intentions are good yet he can't reach some of his difficult students. Their interactions are engaging and sometimes amusing.

This is the worst movie I've ever seen.

Almost a docu-drama. It could have been shorter, and unfortunately might discourage anyone who was thinking of becoming a teacher.

J'ai complètement adoré ce filme. J'ai trouve qu'il était bien réaliser et, dans mon opinion, les personnages peuvent être mise dans n'importe quel école sans perdre le rythme de l'histoire.
