I've always been fascinated with Henry VIII and this movie did not disappoint! The history was a bit off and a tad lacking, but I loved the costumes, settings and cast. Very good movie if you like historical dramas!

UGH! I remembered this as being better when I saw it on the big screen.

What a fabulous movie this was! Even though I had read the book on which the film was based, and knew the plot, I remained riveted to the screen from beginning to end. The performances from all actors were superb and the sumptuous costumes and dramatic interiors provided a feast for the eyes.

Although many stars, not entertaining at all! No depth! Pick other movies.

The storyline was weak, it was hard to follow and the acting was not good either. I did not enjoy the movie.

Nicely presented period piece. I have no idea if it is historically correct. Eric Bana was good as Henry the VII (pre-weight gain), Johansson & Portman were effective as the Boleyn girls, but sometimes it seemed that ScarJo's accent was over pronounced and Natalie's didn't exist. Kind of inconsistent. It made them look like they were in a bad episode of Game of Thrones at times.

Two sisters fought for the attention of King Henry VIII, with disastrous result for one. Rich in costume and medieval setting, though a tad thin on the history side, this is a decent film to watch if you have an interest in British court dramas.

I really didn't know this part of history. However, its so sad how a family is destroy only to gain a title. Sad story, but an interesting one..

Katherine: You want me to creep away and become a nun?
Well, i shall not.
You want me to lie before God and admit that my first marriage was consummated?
Well, it was not.
You want me to retire and give up my daughter's claim as sole rightful heir to the throne?
Well, i shall not.

Katherine: So.......the Boleyn whores. Two former ladies of mine. What have did i do to upset you that you should turn against me like this?
Anne: You failed to give England an heir.
Katherine: And that upsets you so?

This movie was based on the best selling novel of the same name.
A tale of intrigue, romance and betrayal. The Boleyn sisters are forced to advance their familie's position in court by seducing King Henry of England. In the process of helping their family , the sisters become rivals and much heartache follows. The era had no respect for women and the film is a strong reminder of the truth behind the seemingly over worked statement : " you've come a long way, baby"
