This book has been very useful in helping us feed our second son - especially in understanding why he is picky sometimes and not other times.

I disagree with the philosophy of this book which was basically: feeding difficulties with your children are due to power struggles therefore give up some control. If eating is a power struggle then you probably have issues with your child's behaviour in other areas since your child doesn't trust your guidance.

As for the recipes, I want my kids to eat more veggies than 1/2 cup of broccoli spread throughout a dozen muffins, so I didn't think this book was very helpful. As an aside, what I did find helpful (which is not in this book) was 1) look like YOU are enjoying eating your vegetables 2) feed them the vegetables first when they are hungry 3) keep offering a food for them to eat - it sometimes takes kids dozens of tries before liking something 4) remember: children in vegetarian families eat vegetables so why shouldn't yours ?

This book was funny, but I think it's approach is like learning how to live with a broken leg.

I recommend "The Dream Baby Guide" by Sheyne Rowley if you have power struggle issues with your young child.

Great recipies in this book - my picky eater ate almost every single one I tried! It is written by real moms with real picky children and sneaks health in every bite. You'll also find yourself laughing outloud at the real life family humor on each page as well as find many helpful tips.......I think I might buy this one.
