I’m a little ashamed to admit that I decided to read this book of poetry after repeatedly seeing the iPhone commercial with Maya Angelou’s voiceover reading “The Human Family,” but I supposed there’s no bad reason to read a Maya Angelou book. This book is full of intersectionality topics relating to race, gender, social class. Of course, this being a Maya Angelou book of poetry, is full of beautiful and insightful language.
