This is one of the weirdest books that I have ever read. The plot is all over the place and the character opinions are skimmed over. I believe that this book was not meant to be read by my eyes. I can definitely say that Nancy Werlin has a very active imagination that stretches beyond the average mundane. The book follows a young girl who lives with “adoptive parents”. Her mother abandoned her when she was little and occasionally comes around to see her. But her birth mother is no average person – she has gone mentally insane. But what the young protagonist doesn’t know could actually kill her. She discovers that there is a curse placed upon her family that she has to break or it will have major consequences that will occur for her and for future generations. With the help of some good friends and family, she must try to break the curse and save the day. Despite the weirdness of the book, it truly was a good read and an excellent change of genre for me. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to change up the genre that they are reading for a book that is out of the ordinary. - @BakerBooks of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

I'll admit it. I frequently judge a book by its cover. In the case of Impossible by Nancy Werlin, the premise of the book combined with the cover was too irresistible a combination.

On her seventeenth birthday, Lucy discovers that she, like countless generations of women before her, is under an ancient curse placed by an elfin king.

Werlin was inspired by the lyrics to the song "Scarborough Fair," made famous by Simon and Garfunkel. While listening, she began to realize how dark the lyrics actually were, and the premise for Impossible was born. You can find Lucy's three impossible tasks within the song.

Really enjoyed the characters. I know that the general story line is not possible, but I didn't "believe" all of it, if that makes sense. However, overall, it was a great read!

This book was nothing like I thought it would be. It was kinda slow and super predictable but the story was at least original.

This book had potential for something good. I think the family curse was an interesting aspect until it became close to another teen novel with additions of Elfin Knights and other lands. I recommend this book. I read it in one night and though it was a nice, easy, and entertaining read.
