15-year-old Brian Martin is on a canoe trip with his mother and sister to spread the ashes of Brian's father after his death. During the trip, Brian takes the wrong turn into rapids and is in danger. With the help of an old man named Pierre, he is saved. Pierre offers to guide them along the river to their destination. The Martins truly realise the beauty of wildlife and why their father loved it so much.
