This is a 2-DISC 300-minute documentary originally produced for television from 2002-2005.
It contains 6 episodes:
1) Computing---the Antikythera mechanism.
2) Medicine---brain surgery and Galen, the doctor to the Gladiators
3) Robotics---Heron of Alexandria's miracle machines and steam engine
4) Warfare---Heliopolis siege towers
5) Ships---Caligula's Lake Nemi pleasure barges
6) Power---Archimedes death ray.
Much of what we have recently discovered has only been re-discovered.
The film unearths amazing technologies we think of as modern, but which actually have their origins in antiquity.
Each episode travels back in time to uncover remarkably sophisticated inventions and to celebrate the ancient engineers whose ingenuity laid the foundations for today's technology.
If the library of Alexandria had not been burnt down, the current technology must have been even more advanced.
