Look for silver screen legend Eli Wallach to help lift this film to a better-than-average kind of chick-flick.

I watch this movie every December without fail!! Mix some talented cast members with a good script, and I believe you have something that strikes just above a chick flick (rather, let’s say holiday flick). It’s a charming, feel good film with everything from the cozy settings to their wonderful accents, and helloooooo how does one not fall in love with the character of Arthur Abbot? Just enough laughs and tears and a sprinkle of holiday cheer that screams anything is possible.

A sweet romantic comedy, and a perfect rom com to enjoy over the Christmas holidays. Brilliant acting by everyone in this movie. Loved it

Charming movie, nice story and something to enjoy whenever you feel “blue”. I could’t see Jack Black in this romantic role as well, but over all, worked well for other roles.

One of my favourites for the holidays, it always makes me smile

An average-to-good-but-not-great romantic comedy.

I loved this movie! It was funny, romantic and light-hearted. A definite movie to see all year around.

I love this movie! No matter the time of the year, if I need a little pick-me-up, this is one of my 3 go-to movies to pop in the DVD player. I disagree with the previous reviewer. Although I, too, questioned casting Jack Black as a love interest, as the movie progressed I found myself appreciating this unusual casting. In fact, it was refreshing to see someone who appeared to be "more everyday real" cast in the role. He did help to make the move its best.

Delightful movie despite Jack Black being badly miscast as a love interest. Good holiday fare.

This was a very cute holiday movie -- Jude Law did bring tears to my eyes at one point. Definitely a romance with just a touch of comedy.

Great feel-good movie. The DVD is in terrible condition. So much skipping, lost many of my favorite scenes.
