This movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. “Not too bad---good performance”. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”

Reasonably interesting period piece based in the late 1700s, during the time of England's take-over of New France. // Themes include bravery, love, prejudice, treachery. Interesting scenery and locales (mostly at Fort Louisbourg, NS). // Reasonable performances from a mostly Quebecois/Canadian cast, with a few "name" actors in major (Gerard Depardieu) and minor (Colm Meaney, Tim Roth) roles. O'Henry (twist) ending.
