It is difficult for me to understand how any parent sees this book as good for a child who doesn't want to go to bed. Instead of encouraging a child to go to bed at night, it teaches them that sneaking around and continuing to get up over and over again will result in them having lots of fun. In fact the book ends with the parents getting up in the morning and finding their children asleep on the living room floor; as after the parents were sound asleep, the kids headed to the living room and had themselves a grand old time. If you choose to check out this book, I caution you to at least read it yourself before reading to your child to see if it is appropriate for them. Unfortunately, I didn't do that and paid the consequences with increased tantrums at bedtime for more than a week after reading this book to our 5 year old.
