Peeps is one of the more interesting takes on vampires I've read. Everything is kept as realistic as possible. Vampirism is caused by a parasite, and every other chapter diverts from the story to explain some real-world parasite, including Toxoplasmosis, Malaria, and Flukeworms. Because of that, I wouldn't recommend it to people who are squeamish about germs. The other interesting thing was that for the most part it stayed away from horror, almost staying closer to a medical thriller.

If you are looking for sexy vampire love, don't look here. No sparkly vampires appear in this novel - vampirism is painted in a totally scientific light. No matter how scientific the material can get, Scott Westerfeld manages to keep the story line from being bogged down and become stagnant. As always his prose keeps things humorous and filled with drama. An excellent read. For the full review, head to my blog at OboeChica Books (so long and thanks for all the fish).

it's really different from a classic vampire book, but in a good way. When I read the beginning, I thought it was really dull. But as the more I read the more exiting it got. It's also very educational!

This book was very very educational! Weirdly it's not at all what I expected it to be! I would sugest this for anyone who loves to learn new and randoms things. It really isn't about vampires at all. Its about parasites.

I love the scientific take on Vampires/Zombies etc. Takes some of the romatisized silliness out of it.

I get the sense that this would have been a very good book if not for the constant inappropriate references. I had to stop before I even got halfway through because I couldn't take it anymore, even though I was curious to see the outcome of the plot. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

This was a really different look on the idea of vampires -a great read, especially if you like biology! Although, the descriptions of the parasites do get a little long. It greatly reminds me of the storyline behind men in balck!

A good read, a different take on a familiar topic.

Sexual Content: The vampire parasite is spread though body fluids.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: The side chapters explaining different real parasites could be considered frightening, and at the very least you won't eat rare meat for a long time.
